It's certainly not a sprint! Good to keep that in mind. When Larry and I started farming 50 years ago, we just knew we would change our neighbors minds about the high use of chemicals. Little did we know that it is a lifetime investment in our belief that there are less harmful ways of farming.
We are feeling confident that you all will continue to move forward to change this awful mess we’re in. It just takes more time than I ever thought it would.
Thanks for these, well yes, inspiring stories, Beth. I was fortunate to be a farm kid so I grew up with good, fresh food. As I got out into the world, I noted that the foods readily available and heavily advertised were not nutritious, were laden with sugar/fructose/preservatives, were pitched as "yummy" and were grown using questionable practices. I took umbrage, began frequenting farmers' markets, joined a food co-op and began advocating for sustainable agriculture; I guess because it's in my blood.
I love the concept of a relay race, rather than a sprint or marathon. Carrying forward the work as individuals and groups is a helpful analogy. I am excited about the possibility of Chris Jones becoming Iowa's next Secretary of Agriculture. Thanks for your inspiring work, Beth!

I love that he pointed out--activism is a relay race. We all have to pass the baton from one generation to the next.

I'm late to this, but wow--truly inspiring. Thanks, Beth!
Thanks so much Wini! I am so glad it worked to inspire you.
